DAY 12 - THREE BOOKS YOU MEANT TO READ LAST YEAR
1. Wayfarer (Passenger #2) by Alexandra Bracken
The first book in this duology, Passenger, was amazing! I flew through it.
But because of my never ending TBR, I started reading this book this summer.
I'm currently on page 309 and I'm so happy to continue this duology. Sadly, I'm almost done with Wayfarer and that means no more stories about Nicholas, Etta and Sophia...
I wanted to start this book last year, but last year was not a very good reading year for me and I didn't get to read it.
Synopsis:
All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected—Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.
Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travelers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realizes that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.
As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognizable… and might just run out on both of them.
2. Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer
The Lunar Chronicles is my favorite series. I already know that, even thought I've only read two books. Cinder was a great introduction to the series and I also really enjoyed Scarlet!
Cress is another book I was meant to read last year. I was really bummed out that I didn't get to read it then, but I did read Scarlet last year.
I'm planning to read Cress this year and Fairest next year.
Hopefully I'll read Winter next year or in 2021.
Synopsis:
In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they're plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she's just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
3. A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard
By reading the synopsis on the back of the book, I already know I'm going to love it!
I have a big love for sign language and I would love to see some representation of a deaf person in books.
The reason why I haven't read this book yet is very boring, as it's the same reason I have already given.
To be honest, I'm not sure whether I have time to start reading this book this year. I'm very busy and I haven't had the time to read much.
My goal is to finish Wayfarer next month and finish Wayward Son in december. That means I will not reach my Goodreads goal once again...
Synopsis:
Steffi has been a selective mute for most of her life - she's been silent for so long that she feels completely invisible. But Rhys, the new boy at school, sees her. He's deaf, and her knowledge of basic sign language means that she's assigned to look after him. To Rhys, it doesn't matter that Steffi doesn't talk, and as they find ways to communicate, Steffi finds that she does have a voice, and that she's falling in love with the one person who makes her feel brave enough to use it.
