No everyone, it's not click-bait. I really went to the most beautiful bookstore here in the Netherlands.

In this blog post I'm going to tell you about my day in Maastricht, Limburg!

On my birthday this year, my only real life booklover friend, invited me to go to Maastricht with her. Maastricht is a city in the province of Limburg.

The reason why she invited me to travel to the south of the country was because of a specific bookstore: Bookstore Dominicanen.

She has been there before, but I hadn't. I was so pumped!

But at that time we were at the height of a global pandemic, which made our trip to Maastricht impossible.

Therefore, we postponed our trip and decided to go when things got more safe.

Traveling to Maastricht was pretty long, but we had brought a book with us and we had a lot of talking to catch up on!

Tour across the Meuse

While we were in Maastricht we also wanted to play tourists. See the touristic places and taste some Luikse Wafels.

My friend got us tickets to get on a boat and sail the Meuse (or as we call it in Dutch, de Maas) while a guide talked about the city and it's monuments.

I don't think I've ever done a boat tour in my own country, but I did really enjoy it! Maybe I'll do it again when I visit another city in here in The Netherlands!

Bookstore Dominicanen

After we sailed the seven seas- I mean, the Meuse, we went to the exact reason why we were there: the bookstore.

Bookstore Dominicanen is a bookstore inside of a former church: The Dominicanenkerk (kerk=church). It has three floors, which is two more than my local bookstore, lol! XD

While I was there I could only be jealous of the people who have this bookstore as their local bookstore.

Because we went to Maastricht to celebrate my birthday, she bought one of the books I got. I almost got one book, but while we were waiting in line, I saw Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People about Race and had to get it!

The book my friend gifted me was Frankly in Love by David Yoon.

Hopefully I'll be able to go back some day and look around a little longer.
