MY BIGGEST BOOK HAUL YET

Updated: Dec 22, 2020

Hello everyone!

I haven't done a book haul in a while, but I'm back with a new book haul post.

And it's MASSIVE!

Around november 19th Amazon had a massive book sale. Many books on our wish lists were being sold for less than 10 euros.

Even I decided to scan my wish list and buy the cheapest books on there.

So without any further ado, here is my massive book haul (including a book I received yesterday).

1. Powers of a Girl by Lorraine Cink

When this book got announced I got so excited and immediately added it to my wish list. You can probably imagine how excited I was when this book was on sale!

Synopsis:

Dive into the world and stories behind all of your favorite women in the Marvel Universe, including Captain Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Shuri, Ms. Marvel, Wasp, America Chavez, and many more! This gift book showcases the amazing stories, personal victories, and powers of dozens of extraordinary Marvel heroes.

2. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Synopsis:

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

(the synopsis was too long. read the full synopsis here!)

3. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

I've been wanting to read an Adam Silvera book for so long! Finally I'm starting by getting this one!

Synopsis:

On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today.

Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day.

4. Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray

I love Leia in the Star Wars franchise, so I'm excited about Claudia Gray's take on her story.

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Princess Leia Organa faces the most challenging task of her life so far: proving herself in the areas of body, mind, and heart to be formally named heir to the throne of Alderaan. She's taking rigorous survival courses, practicing politics, and spearheading relief missions to worlds under Imperial control. But Leia has worries beyond her claim to the crown. Her parents, Breha and Bail, aren't acting like themselves lately; they are distant and preoccupied, seemingly more concerned with throwing dinner parties for their allies in the Senate than they are with their own daughter. Determined to uncover her parents' secrets, Leia starts down an increasingly dangerous path that puts her right under the watchful eye of the Empire. And when Leia discovers what her parents and their allies are planning behind closed doors, she finds herself facing what seems like an impossible choice; dedicate herself to the people of Alderaan—including the man she loves—or the galaxy at large, which is in desperate need of a rebel hero....

5. Unbroken: 13 Stories Starring Disabled Teens by many authors and edited by Marieke Nijkamp

I bought this book, because it was recommended to me by Anniek! I'm very curious to read it!

Synopsis:

This anthology explores disability in fictional tales told from the viewpoint of disabled characters, written by disabled creators. With stories in various genres about first loves, friendship, war, travel, and more, Unbroken will offer today's teen readers a glimpse into the lives of disabled people in the past, present, and future.

6. Once Upon a Time: Regina Rising by Wendy Toliver

I read Red's Untold Tale a while back and I really liked it. I have high hopes for this one!

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Regina is very different from the Regina known by fans of ABC's "Once Upon a Time." She seeks romance, adventure, and approval. Of course, getting approval from a mother like Cora is next to impossible. For Regina, friendships have always been a rare commodity. Could it be that Regina has finally found a true friend? Or is it too good to be true? As Regina struggles to find her own identity and create her own destiny, she discovers that her fate might just be to become everything she despises.

7. Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann

This book has been on my shelf for so long! I can't wait to read it!

Synopsis:

Alice had her whole summer planned. Nonstop all-you-can-eat buffets while marathoning her favorite TV shows (best friends totally included) with the smallest dash of adulting--working at the library to pay her share of the rent. The only thing missing from her perfect plan? Her girlfriend (who ended things when Alice confessed she's asexual). Alice is done with dating--no thank you, do not pass go, stick a fork in her, done.

But then Alice meets Takumi and she can't stop thinking about him or the rom com-grade romance feels she did not ask for (uncertainty, butterflies, and swoons, oh my!).

8. Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron

I have already read this book, because I had received the ARC. Because I loved the book, I decided to buy the finished copy and see what changed!

Synopsis:

Born into a family of powerful witchdoctors, Arrah yearns for magic of her own. But each year she fails to call forth her ancestral powers, while her ambitious mother watches with growing disapproval.

There’s only one thing Arrah hasn’t tried, a deadly last resort: trading years of her own life for scraps of magic. Until the Kingdom’s children begin to disappear, and Arrah is desperate to find the culprit.

She uncovers something worse. The long-imprisoned Demon King is stirring. And if he rises, his hunger for souls will bring the world to its knees… unless Arrah pays the price for the magic to stop him.

9. Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Jason Reynolds

I'm happy to have this book for two reasons: I love Spider-Man and I really want to read Jason Reynolds books.

I now own three Jason Reynolds books!

Synopsis:

Miles Morales is just your average teenager. Dinner every Sunday with his parents, chilling out playing old-school video games with his best friend, Ganke, crushing on brainy, beautiful poet Alicia. He's even got a scholarship spot at the prestigious Brooklyn Visions Academy. Oh yeah, and he's Spider Man.

But lately, Miles's spidey-sense has been on the fritz. When a misunderstanding leads to his suspension from school, Miles begins to question his abilities. After all, his dad and uncle were Brooklyn jack-boys with criminal records. Maybe kids like Miles aren't meant to be superheroes. Maybe Miles should take his dad's advice and focus on saving himself.

10. Star Wars From a Certain Point of View by many authors and edited by Elizabeth Schaefer

No comment... I just really love Star Wars and am very excited for The Rise of Skywalker.

Synopsis:

This unique anthology celebrates that legacy, as more than forty contributors lend their vision to this retelling of the original Star Wars film. Each story reimagines a moment from the film through the eyes of a supporting character. From a Certain Point of View features contributions by bestselling authors, trendsetting artists, and treasured voices from the literary history of Star Wars.

11. Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds

A friend of mine has already read this book and said it was amazing! I'm very excited!

Synopsis:

Or, you can call it a gun. That’s what fifteen-year-old Will has shoved in the back waistband of his jeans. See, his brother Shawn was just murdered. And Will knows the rules. No crying. No snitching. Revenge. That’s where Will’s now heading, with that gun shoved in the back waistband of his jeans, the gun that was his brother’s gun.

12. All American Boys by Jason Reynolds

Synopsis:

Quinn saw his best friend’s older brother beating the daylights out of a classmate. At first Quinn doesn’t tell a soul…He’s not even sure he understands it. And does it matter? The whole thing was caught on camera, anyway. But when the school—and nation—start to divide on what happens, blame spreads like wildfire fed by ugly words like “racism” and “police brutality.” Quinn realizes he’s got to understand it, because, bystander or not, he’s a part of history. He just has to figure out what side of history that will be.

Rashad and Quinn—one black, one white, both American—face the unspeakable truth that racism and prejudice didn’t die after the civil rights movement. There’s a future at stake, a future where no one else will have to be absent because of police brutality. They just have to risk everything to change the world.

13. Little Women (Puffin in Bloom special edition) - Louisa May Alcott

My cousin got me this book! It wasn't from the Amazon sale, but I still wanted to include this in the haul!

Synopsis:

Grown-up Meg, tomboyish Jo, timid Beth, and precocious Amy. The four March sisters couldn't be more different. But with their father away at war, and their mother working to support the family, they have to rely on one another. Whether they're putting on a play, forming a secret society, or celebrating Christmas, there's one thing they can't help wondering: Will Father return home safely?
